Guangzhou Port: South China's gateway to the world

Early morning, when the sun is just rising, the ship named “China Shipping Asia”, loaded with boxes of cloth, ceramic, fridges and rosin, is setting sail from the Nansha Port Zone of Guangzhou Port, and in two weeks’ time, these commodities are displayed on the supermarket shelves in Los Angeles, U.S.A.

Manufactured products from Foshan, Nanhai, Panyu and Shunde reach Guangzhou Port within 40 minutes through the expressway networks. The transportation time between the other 14 cities with the most robust economy and Guangzhou Port is within 60 minutes.

Guangzhou, as a southern metropolis, gathers logistics flow, information flow and capital flow in here. Guangzhou Port has become a logistics platform to link the world.

The role of Guangzhou Port as an international trade port was established years ago, when tea, cloves, silk and ceramics from China departed from the ancient Huangpu Port and continuously travelled to Europe, where they were treated as luxuries by the European upper classes. Frequent international trade gave birth to the Maritime Silk Road of ancient China.

Today, Guangzhou Port has continued the prosperity of the millennium port. The port keeps expanding. Its cargo throughput and container throughput both rank among the 1st in the world.

The operation docks of Guangzhou Port spread from the urban area to the Pearl River estuary, covering four major port zones of Neigang, Huangpu, Xinsha and Nansha. The Nansha Port Zone of Guangzhou Port has ten 00-tonnage container ship berths, and its total quay length is 3.5 km, which can accommodate , TEUs. It is the only deepwater pier in the west of the Pearl River Delta. The Nansha Bonded Port Zone has been approved as the first bonded port area in Guangdong Province. The port is identified by the World Health Organization as one of the first group of International Sanitation Port in mainland China.

On July 17, , the 00-tonnage MSC IRENE, one of the world's largest container ships, cast anchor at the 7th Berth of the Nansha Port Zone, and eight hours later, fully loaded with containers, it left the pier for Europe.

Guangzhou Port is the largest energy transshipment port in south China. 80% of the coal from Guangdong Province is transshipped via Guangzhou Port. We are committed to green loading and unloading, and we have adopted the most advanced dust-proof technology to avoid impact on the environment.

More and more auto manufacturers and traders have chosen ro-ro sea transport for automobiles. Guangzhou Port is designated by the Customs General Administration as one of the four major border-crossing ports for automobile importation. The Xinsha Pier and the Nansha Pier, two specialized automobile piers, have the capacity of annual loading and unloading of , vehicles for their clients.

The loading and unloading of large bulk and break bulk cargoes at the dock have grown from the human hands to the mechanical lift and full automation. Many industrial standards are from the practices of our pier.

Following the SOLAS Convention, with the port security systems and the video surveillance covering the whole terminal, the port can provide clients and regulatory bodies with comprehensive real-time tracking around the port zone to ensure port security.
